A welcome speech was given by PwC Human Capital, Ms Salika. We were introduced about PwC and their core values before going into the interviewing skills session. After that, Ms Salika shared with us about the 5 attributes in the PwC Professional Framework which are business acumen, whole leadership, technical capabilities, relationships and global acumen. Besides that, she recommended us to start our interview preparation well in advance such as having self-reflection, be prepared for unexpected questions, having commercial awareness, do research on the company and your interviewer. She also demonstrated how to answer interview question by using the STAR approach (S=Situation, T=Task, A=Action, R=Result).

At 3:30pm, we had a sharing session by PwC Assurance Partner, Mr. Azizan. He shared his interesting work experience as an auditor and some useful advice were given to the participants. We had a very engaging Q&A session with Mr. Azizan right after that.

Next we had a mock interview session conducted by Mr. Kent from PwC HR based on competency based questions. One of the participants volunteered himself to be interviewed by Mr. Kent. Feedbacks were given by Ms. Salika, Mr. Kent and the participants on what the interviewee has done well and what he could improve on in his upcoming interview.

After that, a closing speech was given by MACFIS’s Vice President, Ng Jun Jie to thank PwC and the participants. MACFIS’s President, Kau Hau Jian was invited to present a token of appreciation to PwC. The event ended with an office tour and the participants had the opportunity to network with PwC HR representatives during the office tour.

Overall, this event has helped participants to develop more understanding about career in accountancy and improved their soft skills for upcoming interviews. It was indeed a successful event. We have received positive feedbacks from the participants that it was very engaging and informative.
